Global Supply Chain Consultancy Helps Major Consumer Wireless Provider Navigate Pre- and Post- M&A Supply Chain Transformation Worthy of Top 100 Supply Chain Projects Award.
Atlanta, GA – June 18, 2015 – Chainalytics, a recognized global leader in supply chain consulting, analytics and market intelligence, announced today that it has been named to Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine’s list of Top 100 Supply Chain Projects for 2015. Now in its thirteenth year, the annual Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 list is comprised of supply chain solution and service providers who are helping their customers and clients to successfully innovate and transform their supply chains. The winning submissions produced notable gains in ROI and increased efficiencies, while delivering measurable bottom-line value across a variety of supply chain functions. Chainalytics won this year’s award for its ambitious greenfield supply chain operating model, design and accelerated implementation, conducted for a major U.S. consumer wireless provider throughout complex M&A activities. Chainalytics designed and completed the implementation of an optimized standalone end-to-end supply chain operating model in less than 10 months. When the company acquired a competitor 9 months after launch, Chainalytics’ Supply Chain Operations team then sifted through the additional complexities to support the strategy to integrate the new combined entity’s two unique forward and reverse logistics models. The team meticulously assessed and evaluated the synergies of both distinct operations to produce and implement the most efficient, fully integrated operating model. The project’s scope went above and beyond traditional supply chain operations, including a plan to phase out CDMA-based device production/distribution in favor of GSM technology, with minimal disruption to customers—who buy, sell, and trade devices frequently. The project also included the evaluation of potential 3PLs, point-of-sale systems, return processes and warranty policies, as well as the development and launch of a warranty call center, inventory transition and disposition plan. “When the merger was announced, each entity had its own forward and reverse logistics models that had to be integrated quickly to minimize disruption for their customers,” said Kirk Waldrop, Vice President of Chainalytics’ Supply Chain Operations practice. “Our experienced consultants helped create an operational framework that exceeded all expectations, actually bolstering the client’s revenue streams while keeping their customer service levels high.” Prioritizing minimal disruption to the client’s customers, while balancing service levels and operational costs, the greenfield supply chain design saved over $40 million and identified additional revenue streams worth an estimated $134 million over the first three years of operation. Additionally, the optimized design also proved capable of absorbing 4.75 million more subscribers and 2,200 new points of sale at the time of launch.
