CHAINALYTICS ANNOUNCES LESS-THAN-TRUCKLOAD BENCHMARKING MODEL

Continued Innovations Broaden Model-based Benchmarking Consortium to LTL Market

Atlanta - July 7, 2010 - Chainalytics LLC, a supply chain consulting firm focused on enabling fact-based supply chain decisions, announced today the release of its less-than-truckload (LTL) Model-Based Benchmarking Consortium (MBBC). Chainalytics’ initial pilot model has already amassed data representing over 1% of the total LTL market.

Shippers now have access to a set of capabilities, industry insights, and market analysis focused on one of the more challenging aspects of their transportation portfolio: less-than-truckload shipping. Shippers provide detailed freight information and receive a rich set of reports and freight rate estimator tools that compare their performance to a model of the overall market for LTL services.

“Many companies manage freight expense by comparing their rates to those of last year,” said Matthew Harding, Principal, Chainalytics. “By participating in the MBBC, shippers and 3PLs can compare their rates to the overall market and receive immediate insights into their performance relative to peers. We have leveraged our consortium insights into a robust LTL offering right out of the gate.”

Chainalytics’ econometric modeling process isolates the distinct influences that drive how carriers price, including freight class, minimum charges, distance, and weight. The impact of each distinct attribute provides a wealth of insight to LTL-specific transportation cost drivers. Shippers also participate in an LTL-focused survey that compares fuel programs, operational factors, and accessorials.

Chainalytics offers benchmarking services for shippers and 3PLs and has successfully delivered benchmark services for truckload, less-than-truckload, intermodal, flatbed, temperature controlled, and ocean freight markets. With the release of their online batch processing technology, Chainalytics MBBC has supported over 8 million lane-specific lookups this year alone.

Chainalytics will provide further insight into its LTL benchmarking model at its LTL webinar, Benchmarking Processes and Unique Cost Drivers for LTL on July 14, 2010 at 3 p.m. EDT.
